MAURICIO BUSTAMANTE  (Co-Founder)
Strasberg Method Acting

Mauricio Bustamante began his acting career in his native Mexico City at the age of twelve, working on live television with the greats of the Spanish speaking world. He has acted professionally in the United States since 1967.

Mauricio studied with Lee Strasberg starting in 1973, and has been part of the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute Faculty since 1994. Has toured nationally in a variety of starring roles that have given him coast to coast critical acclaim. In NYC, he has appeared in New York Shakespeare Festival, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, Repertorio Espanol, Teatro LATEA and Multi Stages. Currently, Mauricio is acting in a number of film projects with established directors from Japan, Israel, US, Spain and Mexico. He is a member of MENSA International, an international high IQ Society.

MARIANO CABRERA (Co-Founder)
Acting – Character Work

Mariano Cabrera originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, He is an actor/director and acting teacher with more than 36 years of experience in acting. He has worked in multiple television, film, theater and radio projects since 1986. In Argentina, he is director of his own acting school Nuevo Escenario Mariano Cabrera Estudio de Actuacion since its inception in 2009, with an annual enrollment of 400 students, and he is acting coaching specialized in character preparation, a task that he regularly performs in productions cinematographic and national and international television. In New York from 2015 to 2020 he served as Coordinating Teacher of the acting seminars in Spanish at The Lee Strasberg Theater & Film Institute.

In 2016/2017 he made an international tour of his acting seminars: The Real Act and The Actor as a Reality Generator, which led him to perform in prestigious theater centers in the cities of London, Paris, Madrid and Barcelona.

MARIA FONTANALS
Uta Hagen’s technique

Maria Fontanals is a Spanish actress and faculty member at HB Studio where she teaches Uta Hagen’s technique. She is also the cofounder of Corezon, a successful and independent theatre and audiovisual company based in NYC.

Maria was born and grew up in the beautiful city of Barcelona. Theater has been in her blood since early childhood. Her earliest memories began as a child doing in-home dramatic presentations with her three brothers for their parents. Maria understood instinctively what Oscar Wilde said best.

Maria began her career working in corporate finance followINg her graduation with a Bachelors in Science in Economics from the world renowned Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. However, her interest in theater never waned. While working, she nurtured her acting avocation by earning a Bachelors in Fine Arts from Barcelona’s Eòlia Conservatory of Dramatic Arts and performing in several theater productions in Barcelona.  Ultimately, her inner voice nagged relentlessly prodding her to leave the security of her corporate post and pursue her passion for acting in earnest. She set out for New York’s prestigious HB Studio, to pursue the Core Training program in acting (awarded for a scholarship). Once immersed in the HB Studio’s intensive study of acting, and exhilarated by the inspirational professionals teaching the experiential curriculum, she finally found her groove! She was part of the HB Ensemble and is proudly part of the Hagen Institute alumni.

As an actress, Maria has worked with renowned theaters such as The Brick, Dixon Place, Theater for the New City, Teatro Círculo, Russian Arts Theater, IATI, HB Playwrights Foundation, Teatro SEA, to name a few. She has an extensive experience on stage in the United States and Europe. Select theater credits include: TIERRA DEL FUEGO, EL ESPACIO ENTRE MEDIAS, CITY GIRLS AND DESPERADOES (co-starring with Austin Pendleton and Julie Atlas Muz), EL DIVÁN (winner of a Latin ACE Award for Best Drama Actress), SEIS (winner of five FUERZAFest Awards including Best Play and Best Actress and three HOLA Awards 2017 including Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor), OLEANA, BRILLIANT TRACES (one of the first HB Rehearsal Space Residency projects), BALM IN GILEAD (at HB Playwrights Theatre), KING LEAR, DANCING AT LUGHNASA, and MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM.

Recent TV/film includes: SIX DEGREES OF MURDER (ID Discovery Channel) – DISTANT INTERIORS – THE MIDDLE OF SOMEWHERE (winner of the Royal Film Award 2018) – LATINER (2015 Selected Official for the Latino Short Film Festival) – SUPER WINGS: BARCELONA BIRDHOUSE (voice over).

Within the past year, she has been awarded the national Latin ACE Award 2019 for Best Drama Actress – HOLA Award 2018 and 2017 for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor – ATI Award 2018 for Best Actress – FUERZAFest Award 2017 for Best Actress – Latin ACE Award 2017 for Best Comedic Actress.

J. ALLEN SUDDETH
Stage Combat

J. Allen Suddeth has worked professionally for the past thirty years out of the New York area. For Broadway, he has staged fights for the smash hits “Disney’s Aladdin,” and “Newsies,” and the recent hit, “Pretty Woman,” plus the recent revival production of Jekyll and Hyde, as well as Gem Of The Ocean, Saturday Night Fever, Jekyll & Hyde, Angels in America Part One and Two, Loot, Saint Joan, A Small Family Business, and Hide and Seek. Off – Broadway he has worked on productions for The Manhattan Theater Club, Playwrights Horizons, The New Group, Theater For A New Audience, The Public Theater, The Duke, BAM, The Woman’s Project, Ensemble Studio Theater, Second Stage, Riverside Shakespeare, Jean Cocteau Repertory, WestBeth, The Pearl Theater, Cherry Lane Theatre, and the New York Theater Workshop.  Regionally, and in LORT theater he has worked for Centerstage in Baltimore (over 70 productions), The Arena Stage and The Shakespeare Theater in Washington, D. C., as well as The Denver Center, The Huntington Theatre, The Papermill Playhouse, The Hartford Stage, The Alliance Theatre, The Cleveland Playhouse, The Goodman Theater, The Actor’s Theater Of Louisville and The Cincinnati Playhouse In The Park, Seattle Repertory Theatre, The Northshore Music Theater, and the Big Apple Circus, among many others.  As a master teacher, Allen has been on faculty for The Juilliard School, Mason Gross School of The Arts at Rutgers University, The Lee Strasberg Institute, S.U.N.Y. Purchase College, and The Stella Adler Conservatory, as well as being a frequent guest artist at major universities and workshops in the US and abroad.

For television, he has staged action sequences for over 750 programs on ABC, CBS, NBC, and HBO.  He is the author of “Fight Directing For The Theater,” published by Heinemann Press. J. Allen has also taught at the National Stage Combat Workshop for sixteen years, and is the founder of the National Fight Directors Training Program. Allen is also a producer of The Complete Unarmed Stage Combat DVD Library. He has trained over 10,000 students, and tested many thousands more.

He is ranked as one of sixteen recognized Fight Masters in the United States by The Society of American Fight Directors. He is also an “Honourary Fight Master” with Fight Directors Canada, and a  “Fellow” and Life Member of the British Academy of Dramatic Combat.

NewYork actor of Argentine and Puertorrican decent.

Ed has an extensive theatre career in NYC. He has appeared in several films such as the critically acclaimed ‘Maria Full of Grace’, ‘Postales’, ‘Shut Up and Do It!’, ‘Highlander’ and ‘Kiss of Death’; as well as TV shows like ‘Law and Order’, Mr. Robot’, ‘Limitless’and several soaps. He is also a producer and director of several short films. He recently appeared as Interpol agent Patrick O’Hara in the successful Spanish series “Al Otro Lado Del Muro” on Telemundo and DEA agent Pete in “No Te Puedes Esconder” for Telemundo and Netflix.

She is an international Kundalini Yoga teacher certified by the Kundalini Research Institute, received in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina and with part of her education and training in New York City.

She is also an instructor of Hata Yoga and co-founder and directs NUEVA YO Inside Lifestyle, she is responsible for directing the practices and physical training and teaches our Yoga for the actor program classes.
